Late to the party once again

As I mentioned in my last post, I've been listening to a lot of Nightwish lately. I'm definitely a fan but I don't follow them too closely. Well, I found out today that they fired Tarja Turunen, their singer, eight months ago at the end of the touring cycle for Once. Recalling the Nighwish show last year in Toronto that I heard about, I kicked myself a bit for not going...until I found out that that North American leg had been postponed, then cancelled.

Maybe it pays to keep tabs on these bands?!

I hope they make it back over this way once they've secured Tarja's replacement...that's one band I'd really love to see.

Old CDs

Oftentimes I buy CDs in bunches and some invariably fall through the cracks. I'll hear an occasional song in the shuffle in iTunes/iPod, but nothing more. I've (re?)discovered a couple of them this week: Muse's Absolution, which I've had for about a year, and Nightwish's Once, which I think I've had for 7-8 months. I've been listening to these discs straight through repeatedly over the last several days. It's fun to stumble across something that got lost in the shuffle like that. OK, that is all.

Faith in humanity = zero

I had been planning to make a post here about my new bike: two weeks ago, I bought a Trek 4300 and, after some initial issues (mainly a defective crank arm), I was really enjoying being back in the saddle. Unfortunately, I came out of work at the gallery today to find my bike replaced with some POS K-Mart kids' bike with my steel cable lock sawed in half on top of it. Oh, how I hate thieves.

I think I'll be keeping two bikes from here out: a nice one for exercise and recreation, and a cheapo for commuting.
